It’s a big decision choosing a pediatric dentist for your child. We know that you only want the best. One of the questions we’re asked about a lot from the parents of our new patients is, “Do you take dental insurance.” And the answer is simple – YES! We are committed to providing affordable service and payment options that work for your family. Our staff is here to help you understand your insurance benefits and out-of-pocket costs.
What is Dental Insurance
Let’s discuss what dental insurance is before we go any further. Are you familiar with the way that health insurance works? Dental insurance is basically the same! The specifics of each plan and insurance company will most likely have small differences, but the basics are usually pretty standard.
You will typically pay a monthly cost called a premium. That premium covers the cost of your insurance coverage. After your child has received treatment in our offices, we will bill your insurance company. Many basic treatments like checkups or cleanings will often be free. Some procedures may not be fully covered by insurance, meaning that you’ll be expected to pay the difference (which is usually just a fraction of the overall price, and very affordable).
Some dental insurance policies have a deductible. This means there is a set amount of money that you are responsible for paying for services before insurance will cover any costs. Another common option is called a copay. This is a set fee you’ll pay at each visit before insurance is billed. After you’ve met that deductible number and/or paid your copay, our office will take care of billing your insurance to see what portion of your bill they will cover. What insurances do we accept?
